June Ko has been appointed as the new executive director of InfoCommAsia Pte Ltd (IAPL). She takes over from Richard Tan, who retires at the end of July 2023. Ko will lead the growth of InfoComm Asia, InfoComm China, Beijing, and InfoComm India trade shows.
“We’re thrilled to welcome June to lead InfoCommAsia Pte Ltd,” said David Labuskes, CEO of AVIXA, producer of InfoComm tradeshows. “She brings a wealth of experience working in Asia and delivering events and trade shows across the region. We’re looking forward to the impact that June’s blend of association and trade show experiences will have on the expansion of our shows in Asia.” Ko will be based in Hong Kong when she officially joins IAPL on July 17.
Ko will be leaving her role as executive director and VP of Asia Pacific Operations IAAPA, the global association for the attractions industry and producer of events and trade shows worldwide. She has experience in association-led events and trade shows in the region and will complement IAPL’s efforts to forge fresh growth strategies for its increasing portfolio of events.
“I want to thank Richard Tan for the considerable success of leading IAPL for the last 17 years,” said Labuskes. “Richard has not only grown successful shows year over year in his tenure with IAPL but innovated in how to deliver shows in times of great challenge during the last few years. He created shows in new and important regions in Asia and brought the AV industry together under the InfoComm umbrella, expanding AVIXA’s mission to be a catalyst for growth and hub for the AV industry. Richard leaves the business in a position of strength and with great opportunities.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Richard Tan for his invaluable contributions to the success of IAPL. His leadership and tenacity enabled the business to continue to thrive in the face of overwhelming challenges, especially during the pandemic years. He has indeed built a strong foundation for future growth of the company. I wish him all the best for all his future endeavours.”
