Thomas B. Meier brings more than 20 years of leadership in the global hospitality industry to Jumeriah Group.
Thomas B. Meier has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Jumeriah Group, Dubai’s luxury hospitality leader.
Meier will helm the group’s portfolio of 24 luxury hotels and resorts
in eight countries, and 13,500 staff across 140 nationalities as the
hospitality group continues expanding its international presence.
The veteran brings more than 20 years of extensive industry
experience to his latest role, a full circle from his first hospitality
job as General Manager of Durbar Hotel Kathmandu in Dubai.
After, Meier’s career took him across the globe, holding general
manager positions with both the Swissôtel and Raffles brands in
Cambodia, Singapore and China between 2000 and 2008.
Under his leadership, Fairmont Singapore (formerly known as Raffles
The Plaza) earned the accolade of being featured in the Conde Nast
Traveller UK Gold List in 2006; the first Singapore hotel to do so. He
also played an instrumental role in the re-launch of Raffles' first
property in China, the Raffles Beijing Hotel.
He was subsequently promoted to vice president of global operations
for all Fairmont Resorts & Hotels (FRHI) brands – Raffles, Fairmont
and Swissôtel across Europe, Middle East, Indian Ocean, Asia Pacific and
China.
After a 15-year tenure with FRHI, Meier joined Minor Hotels as senior
vice president of operation in the Asia Pacific region, before taking
up his latest post with Jumeriah Group.
