JTB names new president and CEO

Aomi Tomo succeeds Yamakita Eijiro effective 30 June, with further changes to executive team to come.

Aomi Tomo has been nominated the next president and CEO of Japan-based JTB Corp., one of the world’s largest travel companies.

Effective 30 June, the nomination is subject to formal endorsement at the company’s 63rd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders and a subsequent board meeting on the same day.

Outgoing president and CEO Yamakita Eijiro is set to become chairperson of the board, while chairman Takahashi Hiroyuki will assume an advisory role.

Aomi is the currently the managing executive officer in charge of long-term vision and strategy promotion, a role he was appointed to in 2022. He played a key role in steering management reforms during the Covid-19 pandemic, while leading the “nextender” innovation initiative to drive new business creation and strategic partnerships.

As president of JTB Americas, a role he was appointed to in 2024, he had a hand in the group’s expansion into the meetings and events and business travel verticals through mergers and acquisitions and other investments, while enhancing governance and internal controls.

Further changes to the executive leadership are expected to be announced at the end of May.
