CWT elevates sustainability quest with new global ESG head

CWT has appointed Richard Thompson as global head of ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) and Employee Experience, to oversee the company’s responsible business activities.

Thompson was previously vice president, global internal communication & culture at the travel management company. He will continue to oversee the company’s HR communications and CWT workplace culture initiatives, while handing over global internal communication responsibilities to the company’s chief communications officer, Julian Walker.

Reporting to executive vice president and chief HR officer Laura Watterson, Thompson’s remit will focus on raising the level of ESG and employee experience ratings at CWT, spanning content, reporting, stakeholder communication and investor engagement, with particular emphasis on sustainability issues.

Thompson is a member of the Human Resources leadership team and is a key liaison with the Board of Directors’ Nominating and Environment, Social and Governance (NESG) committee.

Prior to joining CWT in 2016, Thompson spent over 25 years consulting in the automotive, manufacturing and B2B spaces, working with companies including Nissan Europe, Capgemini, Technip and Cargill.
