Business Events Sydney (BESydney) is targeting the India market and driving business development opportunities across the Southeast Asia region, with the appointment of an associate director, global corporate & incentive.

Joo-Rei Mathieson, who joins the BESydney bidding team this month in the role, has close to 19 years experience in the hotel industry, with previous rexperience spanning sales, business development, conferencing, and business events.

She was most recently with Marriott International as market director of sales (Australia and Fiji). Her previous roles include MICE director of sales at dual property Sheraton Grand and St Regis Macau, at Langham Hospitality Group Hong Kong and at Island Shangri-La Hong Kong. She has also overseen hotel sales focused on the US and Canada markets.

Mathieson’s remit will include engaging local and global stakeholders and companies to secure their corporate meetings and incentive programmes for Sydney and New South Wales.
