Melco Resorts & Entertainment has announced another new hotel brand at City of Dreams Macau – this time, a luxury, all-suite brand slated for opening in the second half of 2026.
The project marks a long-awaited transformation of the former Hard Rock Hotel Macau, which was temporarily rebranded as Countdown Hotel in 2017 before closing in 2021.
Subsequent redevelopment plans – including an all-suite concept under the Libertine name – were ultimately shelved.

Work on the overhaul has since resumed with the redevelopment expected to convert some 330 standard rooms into 150 suites, each averaging approximately 93sqm.
Melco has framed REM as a key step in elevating the overall appeal of City of Dreams, positioning the hotel around contemporary luxury, artistic design and a focus on personalised service.
Reportedly, a newly issued trademark for REM covers gaming, hospitality and entertainment services.
Upon opening, REM will join the resort’s hotel portfolio – Nüwa, Grand Hyatt Macau and Morpheus – further strengthening its integrated offering.
Companies such as Sands China and MGM China Holdings have similarly been enhancing room inventories, often replacing standard rooms with larger, more luxurious suites to capture premium demand.
The REM timeline also aligns with Melco’s broader repositioning strategy for City of Dreams. Earlier this month, the resort launched its Be A Dreamer campaign, fronted by Jing Boran as global brand ambassador and Tan Yuanyuan as friend of the brand.
