Sydney has undergone a drastic transformation over the past two years — the city is now reinvigorated with an eclectic array of new neighbourhoods, attractions, hotels and restaurants. To help planners identify venues or incentive ideas that best suit their needs, BESydney has unveiled an online gamified tour.
The ‘Experience Sydney’ game is a fun and easy way to rediscover and be re-inspired by Sydney’s icons as well as some of the newer offerings available for incentives and business events.
Upon arriving on the platform, users simply need to create an account to play the game, where they can stand to win real-life prizes, such as a AU$1,000 voucher. The three winners with the highest scores on the game’s leader board will be notified via their contact details provided.
Take a virtual drive around Sydney collecting points, visiting checkpoints for helpful facts of various attractions and venues, and answering quiz questions to gain inspiration for your next event or incentive travel programme. The gameplay is akin to Mario Kart, where players can drive around Sydney in a yellow convertible with a koala at the wheel, collecting stars, partaking in experiences, and answering quiz questions while taking in views of the city.
The game also features venues where large-scale events can be held, including The WINX Stand at Royal Randwick at Sydney’s inner-city racecourse with capacity for 3,000 people standing for canapes and cocktails; Watersedge at Campbell’s Stores overlooking the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House for up to 5,000 delegates; and Luna Park, a water-front venue that can cater to all sizes of events in big top circus tents or a crystal palace, for up to 8,000 guests.
For those planning incentive travel programmes, they can derive inspiration from attractions such as the Taronga Zoo, where guests can stay overnight in sustainable luxury at the boutique retreat built around a native wildlife habitat complete with koalas, echidnas and other Australian animals.
The Winx Stand is Sydney’s two-level $46.6 million state-of-the-art venue that can host conferences, gala dinners, exhibitions, and other boutique to large-scale celebrations. Looking to rejuvenate the mind and spur creativity among your delegates? Pencil a visit to nearby destinations like Hunter Valley, Blue Mountains area and the Central Coast, where incentive groups can enjoy a respite from city life while immersing in the beauty of these splendid destinations.
The Hunter Valley, Australia’s oldest wine region, is just under three hours from Sydney. Incentive groups and event attendees can be taken on a tour of the many cellar doors in the Hunter, try grape stomping or blend their own wines. This region also offers day spas, hot air balloon rides and serene country accommodation.
The 545-metre Scenic Cableway journey offers a unique vantage point to view geological marvels such as the Three Sisters, Orphan Rock and Mt Solitary. The area is made up of historic towns, spas, and Scenic World’s Skyway cable car which carries passengers from one side of the valley to the other.
Located an hour north of Sydney, the Central Coast boasts a coastline of beautiful beaches and rich greenery offering a stunning natural backdrop for incentive events and experiences. Ride horses, herd cattle and go glamping in the Glenworth Valley. Or travel further north to Port Stephens, a scenic coastal town where incentive groups enjoy sand dune adventures, sailing and other water activities.
