Reviving business events and reshaping them more impactful and
sustainable will be a key focus at the Meet in Malaysia @ Malaysia
Business Events Week (MIM @ MBEW), which is organised by Malaysia
Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).
Taking place 29 August – 1 September 2022 at World Trade Centre Kuala
Lumpur, the seventh edition of the event – with the theme "Reshaping
Business Events" – is expected to attract more than 700 delegates,
international speakers and buyers, association executives, industry
partners, stakeholders, and media.
Not only will MIM @ MBEW showcase the latest trends, best practices
and case studies with a focus on sustainability and digitalisation, it
will also promote Malaysia as a global business events destination,
highlighting its global connectivity, tourist attractions,
state-of-the-art infrastructure and unique hospitality, said Dato Sri
Abdul Khani Daud, CEO of MyCEB.
During the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation will be signed between
Malaysia and Indonesia's industry stakeholders. "This strategic
partnership targets to build a closer relationship with our Asia
counterparts based on communality and explore new opportunities to boost
the business events market within the region,” he added.
The main component of MIM @ MBEW will be a full-day conference, which
will be officiated by the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, YB
Dato’ Seri Hajah Nancy binti Shukri, while the B2B exhibition, BE
Xchange, will feature sustainability workshops and business strategy
roundtable.
This year's event is also conceived with sustainability in mind. This
include initiatives to minimise food waste, avoid single-use plastics,
carbon footprint, working closely with NGOs for a food drive initiative,
CSR programme with Zoo Negara, and collaborate with Kloth Malaysia to
avoid unwanted clothes to go to landfill.
According to the organiser, all collaterals used during the event
will be environmental-friendly and up-cycle. MyCEB has also engaged
Urbanice Malaysia and Global Destination Sustainability Movement to
inculcate sustainability in the DNA of business events industry.
Speakers during the conference will represent all key international
business events associations, including Asian Federation of Exhibition
and Convention Associations (AFECA), Business Events Council Malaysia
(BECM), Destination International (DI), International Congress and
Convention Association (ICCA), International Association of Professional
Congress Organisers (IAPCO), International Association of Exhibitions
and Events (IAEE), Malaysian Association Of Convention & Exhibition
Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS), Malaysian Society of Association
Executives (MSAE), Professional Convention Management Association
(PCMA), Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), Union of
International Associations (UIA).
