Bangkok will host the eighth edition of the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum, happening from 7-9 December in a hybrid format.

This also marks the third time the forum will be held in Thailand.

Winning factors for the bid include Thailand's strategic location, strong and vibrant international development community, as well as Habitat for Humanity’s 23-year history of building homes in the destination.

The biennial event's theme will be 'Building forward better for inclusive housing', and how "affordable and sustainable housing solutions can bring an inclusive future for vulnerable and low-income families through greener, safer, and more resilient approaches,” said Luis Noda, area vice president of Habitat for Humanity in the Asia-Pacific region.

Main speakers include Maimunah Mohd Sharif, executive director of UN-Habitat, and Jonathan Reckford, chief executive officer of Habitat for Humanity International.

The Asia-Pacific Housing Forum, which has been attended by more than 7,200 participants since its inaugural conference in 2007, will also see industry leaders, innovators, policy experts, and various stakeholders attending the hybrid event in Bangkok.

In-person participation will be limited, and adjusted according to ongoing government-mandated health and safety guidelines.

Organisers have also readied a full pivot to a virtual experience, in view of the pandemic's changing nature.
