With countless hotels, restaurants, shops and attractions across Thailand, it can be difficult for travellers to know which ones they can truly rely on. To address this, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched the "Trusted Thailand" Stamp, a new initiative that identifies operators meeting the country’s highest safety standards.
The initiative was unveiled in Bangkok on 27 August by Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, Jakkaphon Tangsutthitham, and TAT Governor, Thapanee Kiatphaibool, joined by government agencies and industry partners.
Jakkaphon said safety remains the first priority in Thailand’s tourism policy. "China is a key source market, and it is crucial that we preserve trust among Chinese visitors. This launch reflects an invitation to all tourism operators, partnered agencies and stakeholders to work together in advancing Thailand's tourism towards safe, secure and sustainable growth, ensuring Thailand remains one of the world's top destinations of choice."
Thapanee added: "The Trusted Thailand stamp is a practical mechanism to restore traveller confidence while laying the foundation for Thailand's tourism industry to meet international safety standards. More than a symbol, it represents our commitment to making Thailand a destination where every visitor feels secure and truly welcome."
The stamp will be awarded to operators assessed across four areas: site safety such as CCTV and emergency systems; secure financial transactions; foreign language support and visitor care; and safe mobility and access.
A mini-site goes live in September, offering a self-assessment platform and directory of certified businesses. The nationwide rollout begins October 2025, backed by safety workshops, forums, and campaigns in both short-haul and long-haul markets.
