Taipei, Taiwan, is one hot destination. The swift comeback of international visitors and MICE events to Taiwan, which fully reopened in November 2023, is a testament to the island’s charm for leisure and business visitors alike.

In 2023, tens of thousands of visitors have thronged the halls of major exhibitions in Taiwan, including Taipei Cycle Show (6-9 March); TIMTOS (6-11 March)Taipei; AMPA & AutoTronics Taipei; 2035 E-Mobility Taiwan; Computex Taipei (30 May to 2 June); and Semicon Taiwan (6-8 September). The last two are influential shows in the global tech industry, and always draw thousands of foreign buyers.

Taipei’s powerful meld of iconic attractions, wide array of meeting venues and hotels, and dynamic food scene have made the city an evergreen destination for all visitors.

The Taiwanese capital is also consistently ranked among the top cities in business events industry rankings, and has joined the Union of Associations and Hybrid City Alliance to tap partnerships with global MICE organisations.

Another recent major event was the hosting of the World News Media Congress, while the Rotary International Convention in 2026 is set to attract 27,000 delegates.

To entice MICE planers, Taipei MICE office – under the Taipei City Government’s Department of Information and Tourism – will provide up to US$65,000 for big-sized meetings of 1,000 guests and above (conditions apply).

The city’s veritable MICE scene is backed by leading venues, from boutique facilities such as the 300-pax Huashan 1914 Creative Park, Taipei International Convention Center (3,100 pax), and Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (15,000 pax).

Taipei Music Center opened in September 2020 and can host 5,000 pax, while Taipei Dome will debut by year-end as the biggest sports facility in Taiwan, seating up to 40,000 spectators.

Fun tours include a visit to the 89th-floor Observatory on Taipei 101, which offers views of the city in all directions. Next door, the i-Ride Taipei Flying Cinema, within the Breeze Nan Shan shopping mall, straps visitors in for a thrilling multi-sensory 5D flight across Taiwan’s hot spots and natural landscapes.

To provide suppliers with a clear guideline of green MICE practices, the 2022 Taiwan MICE Sustainability White Paper is available. Another initiative, the ‘Sustainable MICE, Taking Strides Towards Net Zero’ action plan, helps industry players achieve the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.
