OSAKA – Convention bureaus across Asia are playing an increasingly active role in spurring the recovery of business events, both at home and across the region. The Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau is among the latest to step up to the plate, releasing an eight-page guide for ‘Infectious Disease Control’ at events.

Available in Japanese and English, the guide targets event organisers looking to host events in the prefecture, and was developed hand-in-hand with industry partners and the Osaka prefectural and city governments.

Detailing pre-, during- and post-event procedures, the guide recommends a collaborative approach between venues and suppliers, and insists that event organisers deny entry to any attendee who presents with a fever or who is feeling unwell.

In a statement, Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau president, Hiroshi Mizohata, said: “We encourage business event organisers to use these guidelines to ensure the peace of mind of all event attendees. We sincerely hope for the re-opening of MICE events so that they may once again contribute to economic development.”

The bureau is also providing additional assistance, such as advice for emergency procedures, and introducing organisers to local mask and hygiene product suppliers and thermometer rental service providers.
