Australia’s newest property development project has begun its first
phase of opening with The Star Grand, the 340-key property and five-star
hotel at the heart of the much-anticipated Queen’s Wharf Brisbane
precinct.
At AU$3.6 billion (US$2.5 billion), Queen’s Wharf is designed to
reflect the river city’s spirit and energy, and has a range of luxury
rooms and suites available for booking.
The 340 rooms within The Star Brisbane begin with 276 standard rooms
encompassing the City King, City Twin and River King rooms, and expand
into 60 lavish suites – comprising 28 River Suites, 28 City Suites and
four Skyline City Suites – and four Skyline Penthouse Suites that span
the top two levels.
The resort’s high-tech, state of the art, 3,500sqm Event Centre
boasting the city’s largest hotel ballroom is set to supercharge
Brisbane’s already booming events and conferencing industry with limited
booking availability for the remainder of 2024.
Situated 100m above the Brisbane River, the iconic Sky Deck features
views from the CBD to Moreton Bay and Mt Coot-tha, with a glass bottom
observation deck that opens from 5pm with sunset cocktails at the
sky-high hero bar Cicada Blu.
Encompassing 12 hectares, the Queen’s Wharf precinct will eventually
include bars, restaurants, more than 1,000 hotel rooms in three hotels,
apartments, a Sky Deck overlooking the riverfront and an event centre
with a large ballroom.
David Finch, CEO of The Star Brisbane, said the launch of hotel
bookings marked a pivotal milestone in the resort’s multi-staged
opening, with The Star Grand part of a collection of dining and leisure
experiences to open in phases.
“The Star Grand’s place within The Star Brisbane and wider Queen’s
Wharf precinct will add a new dimension to the city, strengthening
Brisbane’s competitive advantage and providing domestic and
international visitors even more compelling reasons to visit Queensland
ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” he said.
With the first stage of opening complete, other facilities and spaces
are set to open in due course. The other two hotels in the Queen’s
Wharf area – Dorsett and Rosewood – are due to open by the end of 2026.
