Kuala Lumpur will host the 10th World Bonsai Convention in 2026, marking the first time the event has been hosted in the destination.
The bid was led by Malaysia Bonsai & Suiseki Society (MBBS) and supported by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau. The event, sponsored and promoted by the World Bonsai Friendship Federation (WBFF), takes place from 29-31 August and will welcome more than 1,000 bonsai enthusiasts from around the world, who will gather over four days at Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
We all know bonsai takes around 10-15 years to reach maturity, but it takes 26 years for us to stage the World Bonsai Convention 2026 for the first time in Malaysia.

Dato’ Pui Khiang Khang, president of Malaysia Bonsai Suiseki Society and the regional director of Asia-Pacific Region, WBFF said: “We all know bonsai takes around 10-15 years to reach maturity, but it takes 26 years for us to stage the World Bonsai Convention 2026 for the first time in Malaysia. In Malaysia where we celebrate “Unity in diversity”, it resonates well with the WBFF’s vision, which is to promote international peace and friendship through bonsai. We believe WBC 2026 will showcase the bonsai art that unites us through our diversity.”
WBFF’s objectives include to exchange knowledge, technology, information, and related matters on the art of bonsai among countries of the world, thus advancing international friendship and goodwill and promoting and diffusing bonsai as a living art throughout the world, one that can be appreciated by all people.
