Tokyo has secured the prestigious bid to host the World Congress of Philosophy 2028, positioning itself as a global hub for intellectual discourse. The Japan Federation of Philosophical Societies (JFPS) will welcome 4,000 delegates to the University of Tokyo, with 3,500 expected from international destinations.
The World Congress of Philosophy, a venerable tradition since 1900, continues its mission of advancing global philosophical dialogue. Tokyo's winning proposal, themed "The Thinkers Choice", showcased Japan's unique philosophical landscape and robust research networks.
Critical support from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau was instrumental in securing the bid. This partnership reflects a strategic vision to establish Tokyo as a premier destination for international academic exchange.
Beyond the conference, the congress represents an unprecedented opportunity for philosophers worldwide to converge, challenge existing ideas, and explore emerging philosophical perspectives.
Preparations are currently underway for the event.
