Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre welcomes its inaugural
conference Te Waihanga Looking Ahead Symposium, which was organised by
the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission.
Te Pae Christchurch General Manager Ross Steele says: “Te Pae
Christchurch itself is a crown infrastructure project built to provide
economic value to New Zealand and to Ōtautahi Christchurch; and with 60
conventions between now and December, along with many other events,
we’re excited to get to work and make a difference to our city.”
The
pipeline of 2022 events at Te Pae Christchurch comprises more than 60
conferences, including eight international events. In total, they will
attract over 67,000 delegates into the central city, and generate an
estimated AU$37.2 million in direct economic value.
Events highlighted are: Harcourts National Convention, New Zealand
Dance Awards, Christchurch Art Show 2022, MEETINGS 2022, Roofing
Association of New Zealand Conference, Bookeepcon 2022, House of the
Year Awards, Maia Health Foundation FEAST 2022, Archipro – Meet, Greet
& Eat 2022, and Armageddon Expo.
Steele further shared that there are 146 events scheduled till
October 2024, which will bring close to 150,000 people into the city and
generate more than AU$74 million in direct economic value. This
includes 88 conferences, 23 of which are international.
