The Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau (SECB) has unveiled its new pavilion at this year’s IMEX America. Designed and constructed with decarbonisation measures, the pavilion sets a new benchmark with initiatives that reduces booth-related emissions by 45% and aims for carbon-neutral participation at key international meetings tradeshows, including IMEX America.
"As we celebrate 50 years of excellence in hosting major global business events, we’re focused on shaping a sustainable future,” said Eileen Lee, senior vice president, Americas, SECB. “Our Pavilion at IMEX America 2024 represents a significant leap forward in sustainable event practices, incorporating decarbonisation strategies at every stage.”
The pavilion’s features include:
A 75% reduction in carpet usage – a first for Singapore at any international tradeshow
Energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the Pavilion
Sustainable furnishings crafted from oriented strand board
Repurposing and reusing the entire Singapore Pavilion for future tradeshows, including IMEX America 2025, embracing circular economy principles
To holistically address its carbon footprint, SECB is undertaking comprehensive monitoring of all booth-related carbon emissions by a third party, including tracking travel plans for exhibiting partners and increasing plant-based meal options.
Beyond IMEX America, SECB will also be co-presenting SITE North America with the Society of Incentive Travel Executives and IMEX, featuring the 'Singapore Hole in One' where the meetings industry tees off for a worthy cause.
