The upcoming BorneoCraft Global Expo and Conference (BCG) 2024 will be expected to attract 50,000 expo visitors, 300 conference delegates, and 300 exhibitors alongside other international and local speakers when it takes place from 27 November to 1 December at the Kuching Waterfront.
With a theme of “Globalising Local”, the event aims to empower local artisans by offering opportunities for global exposure, market expansion, and growth while preserving cultural heritage.
As a homegrown event from Sarawak, BCG 2024 will be the first of its kind to showcase crafts, foods and beverages and arts at different pavilions which represent different parts of the world.
Deputy minister of tourism, creative industry, and performing arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan has said that he envisions for BCG 2024 to grow in a similar fashion to the Rainforest Music World Festival, an event that has become closely tied to the image of Sarawak.
Sarawak Craft Council manager Suriya Charles Buas has shared his optimism that BCG 2024 will not only gather local visitors but boost the arrival of international visitors with attractions of crafts and gastronomy of exotic nations such as Latin America, Iran and Zambia, adding that representatives of embassies from Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines had expressed strong interest in participating in the event.
BCG2024 is organised by Sarawak Craft Council and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak and Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak).
