International No-Dig Auckland will bring together the global trenchless technology sector this October, reinforcing New Zealand's growing appeal as a destination for specialist business events built around local industry expertise.
The conference, taking place on 28-29 October at the new New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC), is being supported by Tourism New Zealand and the Auckland Convention Bureau.
Trenchless technologies, which are already unfolding in New Zealand’s underground infrastructure, have become increasingly important for renewing and expanding underground networks while minimising disruption to local and business communities.
International No-Dig Auckland demonstrates Auckland’s growing appeal as a destination for such specialist business events, stated Ken Pereira, head of Business Events at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited – the region’s cultural, events and destination agency and home of Auckland Convention Bureau.
The event will showcase advances in trenchless construction, asset management and underground infrastructure, expected to attract engineers, contractors, asset owners and technology providers from across Australasia and international markets.
Attendees can look forward to a comprehensive conference programme, technical presentations from industry experts, networking opportunities and an exhibition floor showcasing the latest products, equipment and services driving the trenchless sector.
Pereira said: “Auckland is already demonstrating the benefits of trenchless technology through major projects such as the Central Interceptor, making it a fitting destination to bring the sector together to share knowledge, strengthen industry connections and showcase our region as a world-class destination for international business events.”
The Central Interceptor is a 16.2km wastewater tunnel in Auckland, being constructed largely using tunnel boring and other trenchless techniques.
Prime Creative Media's head of marketing – events, Molly Hancock, added: “New Zealand has consistently demonstrated the value of trenchless technology in delivering essential infrastructure while reducing impacts on residents, businesses and the environment.”
“The country has become recognised for its willingness to embrace new approaches, making it an ideal host for an event dedicated to the future of underground infrastructure.”
