Over 4,700 approved buyers from 110 countries are due to attend IBTM’s flagship show, which returns to Fira Barcelona from 28-30 November 2023. 60,000 pre-scheduled appointments have been made via the matchmaking platform this week, with even more connections expected to be made over the three-day event.

IBTM World’s #culturecreators campaign has grown to place greater emphasis on empowering events professionals to forge communities, make valuable connections, design incredible experiences, and create culture with their own events.

To highlight the crucial role of event professionals in creating culture, IBTM will introduce its new ‘Culture Creators Report’ on day three. Serving as a global temperature check for the meetings and events industry and compiled using industry case studies and surveys, the report will be given on the Main Stage via an insightful panel discussion with representatives from Forbes and Sportradar.

The IBTM World Trends Report 2024 will also be revealed at the show, tackling important issues, including sustainability, technology, personalisation, diversity and inclusion and the emergence of AI. Alistair Turner will bring his findings to life through multiple sessions on the Main Stage throughout the week. The report will address demographic changes that highlights the African opportunity, and where European and East Asian countries will offer the oldest populations in history.

The acceleration of sustainability within meetings and events has also meant that many businesses are now addressing Scope Three emissions. Scopes One and Two are those that events are most in control of within their own businesses. Scope Three, however, encourages them to extend this impact on supply chains, partners, and the audiences they influence. Other topics in the report include technology and how AI, facial recognition and the metaverse are all part and parcel of the layering and augmentation of events.
