Indonesia is to host the 2023 World Hydropower Congress, which focuses on how sustainable hydropower can help ensure energy security and reach global net zero emissions.

The event, organised by the International Hydropower Association (IHA), will be held at the Nusa Dua Convention Center in Bali from 31 October to 2 November. The choice of destination reflects how the Indonesian government has set out an ambitious path for growth through renewables.

The three-day event will gather decision-makers within and beyond the hydropower industry to deliver high-level policy statements, recommendations and commitments that influence the global growth of sustainable hydropower. The previous edition was hosted in 2021 in Costa Rica.

The 2023 edition, themed on ‘Powering Sustainable Growth’, is expected to attract numerous heads of state, more than 1,000 delegates of CEOs, investors, civil society leaders, international financial institutions, and media from approximately 100 countries.

Bali is also the host destination for the International Airshow 2024, highlighting the destination’s importance in both passenger and cargo air transportation. Bali also hosted the G20 Leaders’ Summit in November 2022.
