Indonesia has successfully organised the Bali International Airshow 2024 for the first time in 30 years.

The Bali International Airshow 2024 was hosted by Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, the Ministry of Transportation, the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU), and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, AirNav Indonesia, and Angkasa Pura Airports.

Held at the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali from 18-21 September, the event attracted participation from defence officials, ministers and industry leaders hailing from over 20 countries including the US, China, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines.

Over 100 participating companies visited the 78,000sqm event space, complete with a static aircraft display area covering more than 70,000sqm and an exhibition hall spanning approximately 8,000sqm.

“The Bali International Airshow demonstrates our fortitude to compete and become a prominent global player in the aerospace industry,” said Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Indonesia’s coordinating minister of maritime affairs and investment.

“The enhancement of Indonesia’s aerospace sectors is imperative for the future of Indonesia. This is not merely a strategic necessity, but the pivotal driver of our nation’s economy and social progress.”

Moving forward, the Bali International Airshow has been announced to become a biennial event in Indonesia, and will take place every odd year. This comes after the signing of a Letter of Intent between Indonesia’s key ministries and PT Inaro Tujuh Belas, solidifying their commitment to collaboration across the aviation and defence industries.
