The AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) has become the venue of choice for numerous large-scale events and upcoming conferences in Hong Kong, highlighting its pivotal role in the MICE sector’s growth.

Wholly owned by the Airport Authority Hong Kong, AWE is currently one of the destination’s hottest venues; In 2023, Hong Kong welcomed 1.3 million MICE visitors, with AWE hosting an increasing number of events compared to previous years.

Noteworthy events in 2024 include ComplexCon – a renowned US festival – hosting its first international edition at AWE, featuring hip-hop concerts, a fashion marketplace, and panel discussions. Similarly, popular Korean cultural festival KCON held its inaugural Hong Kong edition at AWE, attracting over 45,000 attendees largely from China and Southeast Asia for its convention and concert elements.

AWE also recently hosted the WOW Summit, bringing together leading players in Web2 and Web3 spaces with over 7,000 attendees and 150 speakers from 30 countries.

As the largest fan celebration of Korean culture and music, KCON brought in over 45,000 fans, mainly from China and Southeast Asia.

Taking flight into future events

Looking ahead, AWE seeks to impress with its brand of what it calls EXPOtainment, catering to every type of event with large, versatile spaces, extra-high ceilings, and bespoke services – from exhibitions and conventions, to concerts, sports events, entertainment, large-scale banquets and more.

Come November, AWE will host the inaugural Super Terminal Expo, which will run from 5-7 November and bring in over 300 exhibitors to the expo’s 20,000 sqm space. With a paid conference programme, the event will feature over 80 content sessions focusing on five themes and showcase the CAPA Asia Aviation Summit & Sustainability Awards 2024, highlighting innovations in smart airports and promoting sustainable practices.

AWE will also be welcoming the UFI Global Congress in 2025, gathering MICE industry leaders worldwide for networking and knowledge exchange opportunities, and underscoring the expo’s reputation as a premier venue for hosting impactful gatherings in the Greater Bay Area.
