ICCA has launched a toolkit aimed at helping associations manage food waste from their events.

The ICCA Food Waste Management Toolkit for Associations was inspired by the Bangkok Protocol on Sustainable Gastronomy, a framework launched by ICCA at its 62nd congress, held in Bangkok in 2023.

Developed in partnership with Bangkok-based LightBlue Consulting, the toolkit explains the sustainability and financial reasons for tackling food waste, providing an overview for how food waste is managed by venues and offering actionable steps. The toolkit aims to show associations how they can partner with venues and destinations committed to making a difference.

ICCA says the toolkit is a valuable resource for associations to contribute to the industry's overarching goal to improve waste-reduction processes and procedures and continue to innovate in the sustainability space.
