ICCA has introduced ICCA Advantage, a new initiative under its ICCA Learn umbrella, designed to help organisations sharpen their ability to attract and host international association meetings. The programme offers tailor-made, hands-on training sessions to equip teams with competitive strategies in the evolving business events landscape.

Last week, ICCA hosted its inaugural ‘BidSmart’ session in collaboration with the Berlin Convention Office. This two-day workshop focused on enhancing bid strategies for securing international conventions. Industry experts led interactive sessions covering critical aspects of the bidding process, including bid document evaluation, identifying high-potential leads, and refining pitch strategies through real-world case studies.

Senthil Gopinath, CEO of ICCA, says: "This programme seeks to enrich and upskill participants with personalised instruction based on real-world issues that face business events organisations today.”

ICCA Advantage provides ICCA members with a targeted solution to business events challenges. During instructional sessions, industry experts guide participants through deep dives into key topics, empowering teams to stay ahead while upskilling and reskilling.

"Continuous training of the team is so important – a seminar that is tailored to your own needs and also takes place in-house is a perfect solution for this,” says Marco Oelschlegel, Director of Conventions, Berlin Convention Office. “'ICCA Advantage BidSmart' [is] especially adapted to the needs of team members who are new to the topic of bidding. Together with the international experience of the ICCA team, it provided valuable impetus for future bidding processes.“
