Timothy Tan has been named director of business development at Conrad Centennial Singapore.
In his new position, Tan will lead efforts to increase revenue, individual and group reservations as well as event sales through new business and the expansion of existing partnerships, and will report to Heinrich Grafe, general manager of Conrad Centennial Singapore.
He returns to his native Singapore from Macao, where he was director of sales at Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel, Cotai Central and The St. Regis Macao, Cotai Central.
Tan's career spans two decades and includes stints with major hotel companies and tour operators in Singapore and Australia. He was regional sales director - Southeast Asia for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, where he was responsible for looking after global accounts for the corporate and leisure segments in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and India.
He has worked extensively with key corporate and MICE planners, and was responsible for growing the luxury segment to build a strong base of key travel partners catering to affluent travellers.
In 2008, he joined Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific as director of sales, where he managed key accounts for hotels across Asia Pacific. Prior to that, he served as business development manager for HPL Hotels & Resorts Pte Ltd., overseeing the sales and marketing strategies for the hotel group.
He has also served as a member of the regional council of the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) in 2012.
