Newly opened Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC) snags
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit 2022. It will be the
venue for the summit as well as all meetings related to APEC Framework
to be held over the course of the year.
This significant win will see QSNCC hosting delegates from the 21
member economies and beyond. Themed Open. Connect. Balance., the summit
will see a continued focus on charting Asia Pacific’s post-Covid future.
Thailand’s Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs Thani Thongphakdi,
2022 Chair of the APEC Senior Officials' had shared in his address to
senior officials and business leaders from APEC’s member economies that
Thailand recognised the need to reconnect the region to support economic
recovery.
Continuing from the dialogue of APEC 2021 and the recommendations
highlighted, a Safe Passage Taskforce was created to coordinate
cross-border travel resumption. The goal of the taskforce is to ensure
the smooth expansion of business mobility in the long run, according to
Thani. It includes the eventual establishment of common travel protocols
and recognition of heath certificates as well as the promotion of
sustainable tourism.
Taking place at the reimagined QSNCC, the summit will be able to
utilise a flexible space design with a long-span truss structure that
eliminates columns for enhanced space planning. The centre features two
main exhibition halls of over 45,000sqm, two large conference halls of
nearly 10,000sqm and 50 configurable meeting rooms.

of events unlimitedly, featuring cutting-edge technology and complete
facilities guaranteed with standards compatible with global top event
venues in other countries.”
Fulfilling one of the key criteria of a cutting-edge world-class
venue is the infrastructure to support the use of high-speed internet in
Thailand. QSNCC will be 6G ready, with the capability to easily support
virtual and hybrid events. This is complemented by a touchless access
system and an intelligent event platform management system that enables
seamless control for dynamic planning.
To be opened in September this year, QSNCC is the first and only
convention centre to have received the Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design Silver certification.
