Venue management company and events producer ASM Global has partnered
with the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports via Perbadanan Stadium
Malaysia (PSM) to manage operations and event activities at the Kuala
Lumpur Sports City complex in Bukit Jalil, located around 20km south of
the city centre.
The move expands ASM Global’s portfolio in Asia with the addition of
the sporting and events destination, the largest in Malaysia and a
former site of the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. The complex encompasses
the 87,400 capacity Malaysia National Stadium and the multi-purpose
indoor 16,000 seater Axiana Arena, among other venues.
Chairman and chief executive of ASM Global Asia Pacific and Gulf
Region, Harvey Lister AM, said the group is delighted to partner with
Kuala Lumpur Sports City management in a joint endeavour to establish
the complex as a vibrant community and event hub.
“This is further indication of the robust growth of the region and
endorsement of the expansion of our regional business activities
following the establishment of locally based headquarters," he remarked.
ASM Global will partner with Malaysian company, Sportswork, in delivering services for Kuala Lumpur Sports City.
Malaysia Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said: “We see
this MOU as a great opportunity for PSM and ASM Global to enhance Kuala
Lumpur Sports City to a premier destination in the global sports and
event industry.”
The agreement is indicative of the Malaysian government’s ambition to
see Kuala Lumpur Sports City develop a world-class reputation as the
host of leading sports and community as well as large-scale
entertainment and business events.
