Xinyi Liang-Pholsena leads Travel Weekly Asia, while Lauren Arena joins the team as editor of M&C Asia.
SINGAPORE — Northstar Travel Media is pleased to welcome two new editors to lead content strategy for its industry-leading brands Travel Weekly Asia and M&C Asia.
Xinyi Liang-Pholsena leads Travel Weekly Asia as part of Northstar Travel Group, the world’s largest and most trusted travel media, information, and marketing services provider, while Lauren Arena has joined the team as editor of M&C Asia, part of the Northstar Meetings Group.
Northstar Travel Media’s Asia vice president and group publisher, Irene Chua, says the appointments come at a critical time for both the travel and meetings industry, where the need for accurate, timely and trustworthy information is more important than ever.

Based in Singapore, Arena will lead the editorial direction of M&C Asia, Asia’s leading meetings bi-monthly print magazine and weekly e-newsletters which provide critical news analysis and research, practical strategies, creative solutions and sourcing services for MICE planners in the region. In her new role, she will also provide expert content at annual events such as the M&C Asia Stellar Awards, which honours the very best in Asia’s MICE industry; and M&C Asia Connections, a leading buyer-meet-seller platform that will be held virtually on 26 August (Asia) and 28 October (Global).
Arena is a highly-qualified business journalist and editor with close to 10 years of experience reporting on the meetings and incentive travel industry across the Asia-Pacific region, Arena previously held the position of managing editor at Biz Events Asia and digital editor at CEI Asia. Prior to this, she worked with micenet Australia as assistant editor based in her hometown of Sydney.
Meanwhile, veteran travel trade journalist Liang-Pholsena takes the helm of Travel Weekly Asia as senior editor and will steer the brand’s progression towards a digital-first operation and top travel market intelligence resource.
In her new role, Liang-Pholsena will spearhead the curation of breaking and incisive industry insights and features through Travel Weekly Asia’s print magazines and regular e-newsletters. She will also take the lead in developing expert content for Northstar Travel Media’s annual events in the region, such as the Travel Weekly Asia Readers’ Choice Award, an annual award presented to top industry leaders for their service and product excellence, and CruiseWorld Asia, an exclusive trade conference for cruise travel specialists and suppliers.
Based in Bangkok, Liang-Pholsena is an experienced business writer and editor with nearly 15 years of experience across diverse roles in Asia’s dynamic travel and tourism sector. Previously, she served as Asia editor for Skift and editor at TTG Asia Media. Prior to that, she was assistant editor at Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia and also has work experience at Exo Travel (formerly known as Exotissimo).
