Wyndham Goseong, Gangwon rises next to Bongpo Beach, some 7km from Yangyang International Airport.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is strengthening its footprint in South Korea with the opening of its first managed hotel in the country, alongside two new development signings in Seoul and Busan, underscoring confidence in the market’s tourism and business events recovery.
The group has opened the 529-room Wyndham Goseong, Gangwon, while securing agreements for Howard Johnson by Wyndham Seoul, scheduled to open in 2028, and Wyndham Busan, targeted for 2030.
Oceanfront events
Marking a key milestone for Wyndham in the market, Wyndham Goseong, Gangwon is the company’s first managed property in South Korea. Located near Bongpo Beach and Seoraksan National Park, the oceanfront resort is positioned to serve leisure travellers as well as MICE events.
Located around 7km from Yangyang International Airport, the property features 529 guestrooms, many with sea views, and is well placed to cater to group travel and corporate retreats.
It has four flexible event venues to accommodate a range of meetings and events requirements, making it suitable for incentive groups, company offsites and small conferences seeking a resort setting outside major cities.
Growth trajectory continues
Wyndham’s latest expansion builds on steady growth over the past two years, which has included the introduction of Wyndham Grand in 2023 and Trademark Collection by Wyndham in 2024.
With the upcoming Seoul and Busan projects, the company is extending its reach across key gateway cities and secondary destinations.
Wyndham now operates a portfolio of around 30 hotels and more than 9,200 rooms in South Korea, spanning brands including Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Ramada Plaza, Ramada, Ramada Encore, Ramada Hotel & Suites, Wyndham Grand and Trademark Collection.
