The Sofitel Sydney Wentworth has officially reopened, introducing a new era of French-inspired luxury in Australia’s largest city. Located in the heart of Sydney’s central business district, the hotel features 436 guest rooms and suites that have been modernised while retaining the building's original charm.
Originally opened in 1966, the hotel underwent a refurbishment led by architecture and interior design firm FK. The renovation celebrates the hotel’s historical significance while embracing a ‘Modern Heritage’ aesthetic, using a natural colour palette and locally sourced materials that reflect the Australian landscape alongside a distinct French influence.
The Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is equipped with over 15 versatile event and conference spaces tailored for business needs. At the forefront is the Wentworth Ballroom, one of Sydney's largest ballrooms at 629sqm. Featuring a classic 1960s mirrored ceiling, it offers a grand setting for events, accommodating up to 750 guests. In addition to the ballroom, the hotel provides contemporary meeting rooms, ensuring a seamless blend of tradition and innovation for business travellers.
Public spaces have been enhanced with striking lighting and artistic features, further emphasising the hotel’s identity as the ‘Hotel of the Arts.’ The Sofitel Sydney Wentworth hosts art exhibitions in partnership with cultural organisations such as the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Opera Australia.
The hotel’s luxurious rooms come equipped with high-end fittings, including MySmart lighting and the signature Sofitel MyBed™ experience. The exclusive Wentworth Suite, previously graced by notable figures including Princess Diana, will be unveiled at a later date.
In partnership with House Made Hospitality, the hotel now offers a vibrant multi-venue dining precinct featuring four bars and restaurants, including tilda and Delta Rue. The Sofitel Club Millésime provides an exclusive check-in experience and a lounge space with all-day dining and business facilities, catering to the needs of both leisure and business guests.
