Bangkok’s lively Sukhumvit area is becoming a hotspot for MICE planners and groups, thanks to the Six Sukhumvit MICE Hotels (SSMH) initiative. Launched earlier this year, the initiative brings together six luxury five-star hotels, all located between the bustling Nana and Asoke districts, to streamline the MICE experience.

A unified approach to MICE business

The SSMH collective includes Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, The Westin Grande Sukhumvit Bangkok, Sheraton Grande Sukkhumvit, The Landmark Bangkok, and JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok. Together, they offer MICE planners a combined total of over 1,700 guest rooms, 8,300 sqm of event space, and 23 on-site restaurants—all within a short walking distance.

The initiative is designed to simplify the event planning process. “Previously, MICE organisers had to contact each hotel individually for the initial proposal,” explained Sammy Carolus, general manager of Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit. “Now, they can reach out to one GM in the SSMH network, who will distribute the MICE leads to all members and will respond individually within 24 hours.”

The other GMs leading this collective effort are Oliver Schnatz of Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, Robert Wittebrood of The Westin Grande Sukhumvit, Carl Volschenk of Sheraton Grande Sukkhumvit, Francis Zimmerman of The Landmark Bangkok, and Peter Caprez of JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok.

Customised perks and growing impact

The proximity of the SSMH hotels to major MICE venues like the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center and UOB Live enhances their appeal. Additionally, SSMH is collaborating with other significant venues, including Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre and IMPACT Arena, to further boost Bangkok’s MICE offerings.

Perks like complimentary shuttle services and tailored special offers cater to the specific needs of each event, Carolus added. Since its inception, SSMH has already contributed to an uptick in MICE business for the Sukhumvit area, particularly in the Nana and Asoke districts.
