New Hyatt brand opens minutes from Sydney’s Haymarket

Talk Shop at Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney serves as a venue for casual business events like creative meetings and networking sessions.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation will bring its lifestyle brand Caption by Hyatt to Australia next month with the opening of a 174-room hotel in Sydney’s Haymarket.

Scheduled to welcome guests on 13 October 2025, Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney is the brand’s first entry into the Australia, joining existing outposts in the US, Japan, and China.

Caption by Hyatt, one of the chain’s newer brands, is positioned as an upscale lifestyle destination with a strong social and community-building thrust.

The event space Talk Shop – a 160 sqm creative event space for up to 70 guests – is advertised as “less boardroom, more buzz”. It is suitable for creative business sessions, mixers, intimate launches, or after-hours gatherings.

“Caption is about more than a place to stay – it’s about connecting with people and the local neighbourhood,” said Temara Exton, general manager, Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney. “We’ve created something that’s flexible, fun, and centred on the essentials, while celebrating creativity and community.”

Interiors by Mitchell and Eades draw on Sydney’s history, complemented by a partnership with local artist Chris Yee to highlight the city’s cultural identity.

Guests will find eco-conscious practices, mobile check-in, and keyless room entry, alongside partnerships with local suppliers for F&B and amenities.
