Macao’s Bureau of Land Services and Urban Construction’s (DSSCU) latest data revealed a single hotel development in Cotai in 2025 accounting for 2,724 guestrooms built in 2025, while three additional hotel schemes totaling 432 rooms were in the design stage.
The unnamed project involved a gross construction area of 116,743sqm. No other hotel completions were recorded last year whether in the Macau Peninsula, Taipa Island, or Coloane, according to the data.
In July 2025, Galaxy Macau’s Phase 4 hotels were no longer deemed “under construction” by Land and Urban Construction Bureau.
Citing Galaxy Entertainment Group’s brokerage Jefferies revealed that Phase 4 of Galaxy Macau would include luxury hotel offerings with around 1,500 rooms, revised from 2,500 initially planned, to accommodate larger suites.
Taking stock of new hotel supply in the market in 2025, The Capella at Galaxy Macau unveiled 36 villas and 57 suites during its soft launch in May 2025, according to operator Galaxy Entertainment Group.
Meanwhile, UBS noted in December that several Macau casino operators are upgrading existing hotel inventory during 2025 and into 2026. These include the conversion of 160 rooms at MGM Cotai into 60 suites by MGM China Holdings; renovations at Wynn Tower at Wynn Macau on the peninsula; and Melco Resorts & Entertainment's re-modelling of its 330-room Countdown hotel at City of Dreams in Cotai.
