Marriott International has signed a conversion deal with Malaysia's lifestyle real-estate IOI Properties Group (IOIPG), which will see Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya reopen later this year as a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, under the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.

The four-star hotel is located in IOI Resort City, on the fringe of the Palm Garden Golf Club, and a 35-minute drive from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

It will go through a renovation before reopening as the second Tribute Portfolio Hotel for Marriott in Malaysia.

Guests can check into the 151-key resort, which offers a signature Thai restaurant, an alfresco bar, two pools, and a recreation centre equipped with obstacle courses and various teambuilding facilities.

Planners can also book from the 11 event spaces including a 557sqm ballroom.

"We are excited to build on our relationship with IOI Properties Group and further expand our portfolio in Malaysia," said Paul Foskey, chief development officer, Asia Pacific, Marriott International.

IOIPG currently owns five hotels offering more than 1,800 keys in total, including Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, Palm Garden Hotel, Four Points by Sheraton Puchong, Le Meridien Putrajaya in Malaysia, as well as JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach.

The group's golf courses include Palm Garden Golf Club in IOI Resort City and IOI Palm Villa Golf and Country Resort in Johor.
