The Tasman connects Salamanca Place with a modern facade on Murray Street to create a design vision of contrasts.
Marriott International’s The Luxury Collection makes its Australian
debut with The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart, expected to
open at the end of the year.
The Tasman takes its place fronting Murray Street, forming part of
Parliament Square, a new centre for Hobart. It is located just steps
away from the popular Salamanca Markets, St David’s Park and the
bustling waterfront locale of Sullivan’s Cove.
Event planners can book one of seven meeting rooms spanning 770sqm, the largest of which can hold 500 pax theatre-style.
Amenities include a fitness centre, and three F&B options:
Italian food at Peppina, modern Australian at Deco Lounge, and bar Mary
Mary.
The Heritage Bedroom reflects the pioneering past of Hobart alongside contemporary culture.Architectural finesse takes pride of place at The Tasman, offering
guests three eras of design within the 152-room property. It blends the
site’s historical legacy with a modern vision; from the history-filled
hallways of the original 1840s heritage building and the luxury of Art
Deco influences to the modern glass-ensconced Pavillion building.
Its opening in Hobart underscores the significance of Tasmania as a
global destination for luxury travellers. The Luxury Collection began in
Europe in 1906 and represents fine properties in more than 30 countries
and territories. Each hotel and resort is unique to its destination and
represents the individualistic charm of the property.
The Tasman will be led by General Manager, Stephen Morahan.
