Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will be managing a new luxury hotel in Hangzhou, China, scheduled to open in 2025.
The new property will be part of the Westlake 66 mixed-use commercial and luxury retail complex — a project by local developer, Hang Lung Properties. The project name also gives direct reference to the iconic attraction located near the development: the UNESCO World Heritage Site of West Lake.
Once open, Mandarin Oriental, Hangzhou will offer 194 guestrooms and suites, spa, fitness centre, indoor pool, as well as four restaurants and bars. Just like other MO hotels worldwide, there will be meeting and events space ready for gatherings and conferences.
Set in the province of Zhejiang, which is currently undergoing expansion and rejuvenation works, business delegates will find easy access as well to the city’s principal business hubs, Binjiang and Qianjiang.
“We are delighted to be part of this exciting project and to be extending the Group’s presence in mainland China. This development further reinforces the Group’s commitment to building on our existing portfolio in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Sanya, along with properties currently under development in Nanjing, Shenzhen and Qianmen, Beijing,” said James Riley, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental.
Riley added that the collaboration is also in part due to Hang Lung Properties'
commitment to sustainability, "aligning with our own sustainability goals and objectives".
