Thistle Hotel’s event spaces and more to get a facelift under new owner YTL Hotels.
With YTL Hotels taking over the ownership and management of Thistle Hotel Johor Bahru, the 380-key property in southern Malaysia will undergo a comprehensive refurbishment before a relaunch in 2026.
With the acquisition, YTL Hotels hopes to court both business and leisure travellers to Malaysia’s southern region. The revitalised property will feature a full suite of amenities including dining options, meeting and event spaces, and lifestyle-focused leisure activities.

The Thistle will join the Kuala Lumpur-based hotel group’s growing portfolio of 35 properties and more than 7,000 rooms across Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Australia, France, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
