Emerging commercial hub gets a IHG property.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Yashvi Greenco to develop a new Holiday Inn Express hotel in India’s Surat, marking the group’s entry into one of Gujarat’s fastest-growing commercial centres.
The 110-key Holiday Inn Express Surat Gauravpath is scheduled to open in 2029 and will be located along the rapidly developing Gauravpath corridor as part of a mixed-use project.
Surat, widely known as India’s “Diamond City”, has seen sustained economic momentum driven by its industrial base and ongoing infrastructure development. The new hotel is expected to cater to a growing mix of corporate, SME and transit travellers seeking reliable, midscale accommodation.
Holiday Inn Express, IHG’s largest and fastest-growing brand with more than 3,200 hotels globally, is positioned around streamlined, value-driven stays. The Surat property will adopt the brand’s Generation 5 design concept, which incorporates flexible workspaces and updated interiors aimed at balancing efficiency with comfort for both business and leisure guests.
The deal also strengthens IHG’s broader India pipeline. The group currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in the country, including Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, voco Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Express, with a further 89 properties in development over the next three to five years.
IHG said the Surat signing aligns with its focus on tapping into emerging commercial hubs, where rising business activity and improved connectivity are fuelling demand for internationally branded hotels.
