Singapore-based Furama Hotels International (FHI) has announced the grand unveiling of Furama Darling Harbour, formerly known as Holiday Inn Darling Harbour.

This debut marks the hospitality group’s expansion into Australia; Currently, FHI manages over 40 hotels, villas and resorts – coming up to over 7,500 rooms in the Asia Pacific region.

The hotel, which is strategically located in the Haymarket area, is expected to benefit from the $44 million (US$32.7 million) revitalisation plans, as well as the creation of the $3 billion (US$2.2 billion) Tech Central Innovation Hub announced by the New South Wales government.

Furama Darling Harbour will feature 370 contemporary guestrooms and suites catered to business and leisure travellers alike, and has integrated modern amenities with a distinct flavour that celebrates Sydney’s rich heritage and vibrant spirit.

“We are proud to introduce Furama Darling Harbour as our inaugural property in Australia,” said Kent Law, group head of operations and sales at Furama Hotels International.

“With its rich history and dynamic atmosphere, Sydney provides an ideal setting for our brand to establish a strong presence in the Australian market. This launch signifies a strategic expansion for Furama Hotels International, allowing us to demonstrate our commitment to excellence and the distinctive warmth and authenticity that define Furama hospitality.”

Under the rebranding exercise, the hotel will be undergoing a series of upgrades including the rejuvenation of the lobby and restaurant spaces, introduction of technology improvements such as mobile check in/out, mobile TV casting, and digital key access.

Guests will also be able to enjoy multi-functional spaces where they can self-check-in, relax in communal areas, and stay connected – or visit Shipley’s Restaurant in the hotel for an all-day dining experience.
