Grand Copthorne Waterfront has completed its S$30 million (US$22.3 million) renovation which encompasses all 574 guest rooms and suites with sustainable features, greater conference facilities, and upgraded event spaces.

As one of the largest event spaces among Singapore hotels with over 6,200 sqm across three floors, the hotel’s Premier Waterfront Room has an in-room filtered drinking water dispenser and floor-to-ceiling windows to capture natural sunlight.

The hotel, which is part of Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR), has infused sustainability as a core focus across its entire ecosystem. MHR executive director, Kwek Eik Sheng said, “This is a timely refresh for Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, particularly as MICE travel resumes normalcy and in-person events return to the agenda. As more companies prioritise Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals to reduce impact, the demand for greener events has also increased with corporate planners preferring hotels with strong sustainability features and initiatives.

“We are well positioned to capture this fast-growing MICE market, increase our competitive edge, and reinforce Singapore’s status as a leading sustainable MICE destination for a strong business recovery.”

The venue has incorporated high-efficiency technology that lowers electricity and water consumption, eco-friendly features such as in-room water dispensers, and installed new wall coverings and carpets from recycled materials. It is also engaged in sustainable sourcing, recycling, and food waste management.

Its 33 function rooms come with modern LED lighting, and are ensconced in natural sunlight through large windows, housing recyclable and biodegradable stationery, filtered drinking water, linen-less table setup, wireless video signal transmission, laser projectors, and 2K to 4K high-resolution LED video walls for seamless and successful events. The pillarless 850-sqm Grand Ballroom comes with double giant LED video walls.

Sustainability focussed

The in-room water filtration system in guest rooms offers purified drinking water, reducing single-use plastic waste generated from traditional bottled water consumption by 20%.

New smart room control thermostats regulate room temperatures according to guest preferences, leading to energy savings of up to 17%, ensuring a comfortable stay and promoting responsible energy consumption.

Wireless bedside charging technology provides guests a seamless charging experience for electronic devices without cumbersome cables.

High-definition smart TVs allow guests to stream their favourite movies directly from their smartphones, reducing the need for additional devices and contributing to a more sustainable entertainment experience.

Enhanced culinary experiences

Food Capital is a spacious all-day dining buffet restaurant; TEMPO Bar & Grill is a cocktail bar with an alfresco dining with a selection of barbeque and grilled seafood treats; and Grand Shanghai serves Shanghainese fare.

The hotel’s three kitchens include a Halal-certified kitchen. The Executive Club Lounge, located on Level 29, has undergone a transformation, featuring contemporary living room ambiance that complements views of Singapore’s cityscape for "My Millennium Prestige" members and Club Floor paying guests.
