M Social has opened its first hotel in Malaysia, with the launch of M Social Resort Penang, in the coastal suburb of Tanjung Bungah in George Town.

The hotel, part of Millennium Hotels and Resorts, features the pillarless Penang Pavilion Ballroom, spanning 482.2 sqm and catering for up to 380 people. Guests can also enjoy access to a 24-hour gym and outdoor pool.

A total of 318 rooms across two wings are designed to reflect Penang’s rich Peranakan heritage, with geometric patterns featuring a palette of rose pink, sea green, and sky blue, inspired by the island’s flora and coast. Rooms on the Sunset Bay Wing offer panoramic sea view, while those on the Azure Wing have beachfront-facing rooms.

Kwek Eik Sheng, executive director of Millennium Hotels and Resorts said: “With M Social Resort Penang, we are not only expanding our footprint in Southeast Asia, we are pushing the boundaries of what modern hospitality can be. This property reflects our ambition to lead in digital innovation, sustainable design and lifestyle driven travel, and is our blueprint for the next generation of hotels - smart, social and deeply rooted in place.”
