Accor's premium Swiss hospitality brand, Mövenpick, together with long-term partner Singapore-listed property developer Fragrance Group Limited, will be opening a second property in Australia.
The Accor-Fragrance partnership has launched other Australian hotels such as Novotel Perth Murray Street, Ibis Styles in Hobart, and now Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer in May 2021, joining sister property Mövenpick Hotel Hobart in Tasmania which opened a few months back in January.
Located in the prime Melbourne CBD at the corner of Spencer and Bourke Streets, the 172-room hotel with event facilities will take up the six-level podium within the 78-storey Premier Tower development, an architectural standout, mixed-used building owned by Fragrance Group.
Fragrance Group CEO, James Koh, said: “We are excited to further develop our partnership with Accor and deliver Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer, which will be a unique addition to Melbourne’s tourism offering. We can’t wait to unveil this exquisite hotel to Melburnians and those visiting the culture capital of Australia.”
Simon McGrath, CEO Accor Pacific added: “This investment will benefit the local community by providing a choice of even greater accommodation options for visitors to the city and for Accor loyalty guests.
"The city of Melbourne is the perfect location for a Mövenpick hotel, enriching Melbourne’s incredible culinary scene with an outstanding restaurant and bar, and masterfully blending the brand’s Swiss heritage with a top quality hospitality experience.”
For groups, guests and planners, the hotel has a boardroom for bookings, and is also nearby to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, and right opposite the Southern Cross railway station. To move from work to play, within walking distance are the Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium, Queen Victoria Markets and Marvel Stadium which hosts sporting matches and concerts, and a variety of bars, restaurants and cafes.
In-house, guests can pick up Mövenpick's signature ice-cream at the cafe, check in for the daily Chocolate Hour and an assortment of other Mövenpick signature offerings, or dine at Koh's recommended option — modern South East Asian barbeque and grill dishes at Miss Mi restaurant and bar. The standard swimming pool, sauna and gym is also available.
