SO/ Maldives will overlook the Emboodhoo Lagoon as part of the Crossroad Maldives project.
Accor's rebellious luxury lifestyle brand SO/ will debut in the Maldives in 2023.
Located on its own island overlooking the Emboodhoo Lagoon, SO/ Maldives will feature 80 villas, including beachfront and over-water options.
SO/ Maldives will become the third resort to open on Crossroads Maldives, joining SAii Lagoon Maldives and Hard Rock Hotel Maldives at the multi-island, integrated leisure destination in the South Malé Atoll. The resort is located 15 minutes by speedboat from Malé’s Velana International Airport.
Guests at SO/ Maldives will be able to access the facilities at The Marina @ Crossroads, an 800-metre lifestyle area and beach walk with cafés, restaurants, a beach club, upmarket boutiques, a spa, the Marine Discovery Centre, a 30-berth yacht marina and meeting space.
"The resort’s location within Crossroads Maldives will allow guests to experience a truly vibrant lifestyle offering with plenty of options for both relaxation and adventure. SO/ Maldives will be a place to see and be seen for bold and stylish socialisers,” said Garth Simmons, Chief Executive Officer - Accor Southeast Asia, Japan & South Korea.
The project will be owned by an equal joint venture between S Hotels and Resorts Public Company, the flagship hospitality arm of Thailand’s Singha Estate, with Wai Eco World Developer, a leading business and real estate conglomerate.
Other SO/ Hotels & Resorts are found in Berlin, Bangkok, St Petersburg and Singapore.
In related news, come 1 January 2022, all visitors will have to add one more expense to their Maldives trip — a departure tax which varies depending on the passenger's residency and flight class.
