Taking place from 20-24 January 2025, the SB20 World Championships is a testament to Singapore’s growing prominence in the global sailing scene.
A 45-strong international sportsboat fleet will be competing out of ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove in Singapore this week, as Singapore hosts the SB20 World Championships for the first time.
Taking place across five days from 20-24 January, the event is a testament to Singapore’s growing prominence in the global sailing scene. Participants include the defending champion skipper from last year’s Worlds in Dubai, Charlotte Borghesi from Great Britain, 2008 Olympic Champion Pippa Kenton Page, also from Great Britain, Swedish Olympic medallists from Paris 2024, Rebecca Netzler and Lovisa Karlsson and British sailor John Pollard.
Singapore originally won the bid to host the event in 2021, which was cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic, with the event taking place in Cascais, Portugal, instead. Singapore then won a re-bid to host the event in 2025.
Magnus Ekbom, president of SB20 Singapore said: “It feels fantastic to finally welcome sailors and athletes from over 25 countries to Singapore and the SB20 World Championships.
