Luxury travel network Virtuoso has hosted its annual Symposium aboard the Crystal Serenity, reflecting a growing trend in the event industry where cruise ships are increasingly being considered as alternative venues for high-level gatherings.

Running from 13-17 May 2025, the event brought together 375 travel professionals from across 38 countries. Delegates boarded in Barcelona, with stops in Portofino and Monte Carlo, and disembarked in Marseille. The at-sea format allowed for both structured conference sessions and destination-based experiences.

The Symposium, typically a closed-door forum for Virtuoso's top leadership, agency members, and preferred partners, focused on current challenges and opportunities in the luxury travel market.

Beyond the formal agenda, the cruise format enabled more immersive networking and shared experiences – a core pillar of the event. Delegates participated in curated shore excursions, ranging from kayaking in Portofino Bay and hiking to Santa Margherita Ligure to tours of the Prince of Monaco’s personal car collection, walking tours of the Prince’s palace and Oceanographic Museum.

The 2025 Symposium was supported by partners including Crystal Cruises, Abercrombie & Kent, Visit Monaco, and Princess Cruises.
