The 2022 HSBC Women’s World Championship teed off at Sentosa Golf
Club this year with a strong focus on sustainability, aided by
tournament partners committed to a sustainable future for the game.
HSBC returns as title sponsor for the 14th edition, underscoring its
investment in golf and focus on creating a legacy through sponsorship of
youth development and grassroots initiatives.
Additionally, sustainability plays a central role, from the Lexus ES
Hybrid courtesy cars to the newly opened Hilton Singapore Orchard with
eco-friendly energy-saving features for hosting players, the
championship organiser has made environmentally-conscious choices.
It includes event catering that uses local produce and recycled paper
boxes; refreshments in Tetra Pak and canned containers; footwear by
ECCO, Chilean organic wine by PengWine; and entertainment by Sony, a
company that has committed to “Road to Zero” and “Green Management 2025”
initiatives.
According to a spokesperson of the championship, sustainability is a
priority, and an alignment with Singapore’s Green Plan and its national
agenda was important. In terms of selecting partners for the
championship, they worked with selective criteria that placed high value
on brand values, of which sustainability is a very important one.
