Auckland will host the 36th Annual Scientific Meeting for the Epilepsy Society of Australia, slated for November 2022.
Secured by Auckland Convention Bureau (ACB), a division of Auckland Unlimited — the destination's newly formed economic and cultural agency — the event is expected to gather some 250 industry professionals and 1,000 visitor nights.
This will translate to US$323,000 (AUD$415,000) in economic impact, the figure based on an assumed international border reopening and at pandemic Alert Level 1.
“It’s fantastic to see Auckland secure such a significant Australasian conference to further cement our position as a leading business events destination,” said Richard Clarke, Auckland Unlimited’s head of major and business events.
Chair of Epilepsy Society of Australia, Terence O’Brien, said: “We look forward to welcoming 200 or more delegates from around Australia and New Zealand for the much-missed opportunity to share knowledge and experiences with other professionals in epilepsy.”
