Siam Piwat, the developer behind Siam Paragon, Siam Center and Siam Discovery, has announced a 10 billion baht (US$300 million) retail, attraction and entertainment project in Phuket, marking its first major expansion beyond Bangkok.
Iconphuket is scheduled to open in 2029 in Si Sunthon, Thalang district, along Thepkrasattri Road between Phuket International Airport and Phuket Town. Siam Piwat said the development would feature 12 attractions, although it has not disclosed details.
The company said one-third of Iconphuket would be allocated to attractions and entertainment and more than 40% to green and open space. It expects the destination to attract 80,000 to 100,000 visitors a day once fully operational.
While no convention centre, exhibition hall or dedicated meeting venue has been announced for Iconphuket, Siam Piwat already operates event and entertainment venues at its Bangkok properties, including Paragon Hall at Siam Paragon and True Icon Hall at Iconsiam.
Anchoring mixed-use development
Iconphuket will form the centrepiece of Synthesis Ark Phuket, a 50 billion baht masterplanned development by CV Group of Companies.
The wider project covers 491 rai, equivalent to 785,600sqm, and is planned as a “15-minute neighbourhood” where daily services and amenities are within walking distance.
The masterplan is expected to include condominiums, luxury villas, offices, hotels, serviced apartments, an international school, health and wellness facilities, retail and landscaped public areas. CV Group says more than 20% of the Synthesis Ark site will be set aside for parks and lakes.
Hotel component leads hospitality pipeline
The first district, The Nexus, is scheduled to open in 2028 on a 30-rai, or 48,000sqm, parcel. Plans published by Synthesis Ark show a 70-room premium hotel operated by an international brand, more than 10,000sqm of flexible office space, open-air retail and dining, and a wellness and aesthetics centre.
Phase one of Synthesis Ark Phuket is due to be completed in 2032, while further residential, hospitality and community districts are expected to be announced as the masterplan develops.
