Pacific World has become the latest casualty of the Covid-19 pandemic, as the 40-year-old destination, conference and event company has announced the closure of its Hong Kong operations.

In a letter circulated to partners, Pacific World said it plans to close its Hong Kong office in September, but suggests that a company-wide closure could be looming.

In the statement, the company said: “With a heavy heart we inform you that Pacific World will cease operations from November 2020. The Hong Kong office will cease operations from 14 September 2020.”

M&C Asia has been unable to confirm a complete cessation of business, and the future of the company's Asia headquarters in Singapore and EMEA headquarters in Barcelona remains uncertain.

Additional information or enquiries can be directed to myrequest@pacificworld.com until the end of September, according to Pacific World.

The company says it continues its belief in the industry with the eventual recovery of the global economy.

"Today's reduced travel budgets and cancelled meetings and events are tomorrow's pent-up demand and people will continue to meet for business events again. We believe the industry will recover over the next 12 to 18 months, and over time, our passion and legacy of innovation will continue to help us to create better outstanding experiences."
